Jan 15th: Martin Luther King Day Faith-in-Action Assembly
and Governors' Candidates Forum
Community Renewal Society informs, organizes and trains communities and individuals to advocate for social and economic justice by working with and through Chicago area congregations like Gilead. Each year, on the morning of MLK, as many as 2000 people from those congregations gather to worship and take action on police accountability. On Jan 15, we will ask Chicago aldermen to make public commitments of support to police contract reform. We will ask candidates running for governor (all Democratic candidates are confirmed to attend) to answer questions about issues most important to our communities.
It's a long but energizing morning and, of particular note this year, somehow Rebecca ended up co-chairing the whole dang event.
Parking will be incredibly tight so consider transit or carpooling or at least SpotHero. (If there ends up being a CRS bus from the north side, we'll let you know.) Register here.
